For mobile testing of wheelset axles with longitudinal bore, we offer two modular systems that enable mechanised and manual testing. Both solutions are easily transportable, quickly deployed, and easy to use.
Two types of test benches were developed for testing wheelsets. Depending on the requirements, the inspection can be carried out in assembled or disassembled condition.
The WS3 enables mobile semi-automated testing of wheelsets. The system consists of two scan appliances each for testing the axles and the wheel rim. The utilisation of PAUT probes and encoders guarantees high inspection reliability – even on the go.
The WS-RS offers an alternative to x-ray diffractometry and uses ultrasonic waves to conduct residual stress testing in test pieces. This enables monitoring of surface and internal stress, as well as analysis of stress inhomogeneities.
Both during production and revision inspection, magnetic particle testing is used in the workshops of railway companies.
Besides systems, machines, and accessories for magnetic particle testing, KARL DEUTSCH also develops and manufactures crack inspection media. The product family FLUXA notably contains the UV-fluorescent magnetic powders, either as concentrates or ready-to-use, that are especially relevant for the railway sector.
The CRACKVIEW AI system digitises magnetic particle testing. The surfaces of the test parts prepared with magnetic particles are photographed using industrial cameras. CRACKVIEW AI uses a neural network to analyse the images in real time and determines the shape, position and number of possible crack indications with the associated evaluation result.
