ABOUT US
The company BTD was founded in 2001 in Brandenburg by Wolfgang Spruch as an office for technical diagnostics. Since its inception, the company has focused on the development and design of diagnostic equipment for technical applications. The company’s core business lies particularly in the automation and optimization of non-destructive testing and measurement processes in the railway sector – from development and design to assembly and maintenance.
Since 2024, BTD is part of the KARL DEUTSCH Group from Wuppertal, which has been internationally successful in the development and manufacture of equipment and systems for non-destructive testing (NDT) since 1949. The third-generation family business focuses primarily on ultrasonic testing (UT), in addition to magnetic particle crack testing (MT) and penetrant testing (PT). Its product portfolio for this method includes the development and manufacture of mobile testing devices, fully automated testing systems, and, last but not least, single-element, SE, and PAUT probes.
To further integrate the company into the group, BTD will now be responsible not only for railway projects, but also for the complete distribution of KARL DEUTSCH products in eastern Germany.
In 2025, BTD moved into state-of-the-art premises at the newly built Material Science Campus (MSC) in Magdeburg. The company is now based under one roof alongside a DGZfP training centre, start-ups and research institutes specialising in materials engineering and testing.
