Prism Sawing Device
SAWFISH
The mobile prism sawing device allows reference cuts to be made into the surface of railway axles, pipes, and rods. The device is mounted onto the cylindrical surface using a prism as an adapter and secured with two clamping brackets. Both transverse and longitudinal cuts can be made perpendicular or parallel to the longitudinal axis, respectively.
The device can be aligned and fixed in both directions (lengthwise and crosswise). An electronic scale is used for alignment. The cuts are made with circular saw blades of various diameters and widths. The speed and feed rate are adjustable. Once adjusted, the cut is made automatically by a program. The time required for a 2 mm deep secant cut is less than 10 minutes. After sawing the cut, the cut depth is determined using an optical micrometer in the centre of the cut without additional alignment of the micrometer.
Cuts perpendicular to the surface are also possible in the area of the transition radii between the wheel seat and the shaft (angled cuts). Maximum inclination 30°.
